Do I need an anti-androgen for the initial spike in testosterone with Triptorelin / Decapeptyl?

It is a commonly held belief that a short prescription of Cyproterone or other anti -androgen is required to stop an initial spike of testosterone over the first one or two weeks of treatment with the GnRH blocker, Triptorelin (Decapeptyl).

This is unnecessary, except in patients who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, because 'the spike in testosterone during early initiation of Triptorelin is transient, self limited and of no clinical significance to trans folk.

Those who require additional blockers during that phase are prostate cancer patients whose tumours are exquisitely sensitive to testosterone'.
